Health Care

So today I saw a news report where a GOP politician said that the new health care bill posed the greatest threat to freedom and democracy in this country then anything else he had seen in the last 19 year in Washington and the certain people down the street from where he was speaking in Washington DC were planning to take away our rights.
Really, really GOP mouth piece of Corporate interest. Lets us hearken back to the days of a GOP controlled House, Senate, and Executive dominated US government shall we.
Free Speech Zones- Used to keep "unwanted" protesters away from the politicians and press.
Bush's View- The Commander and Chief doesn't have to explain himself.
War on Terror- Certain rights need to be limited to fight the war on terror. How long will this take? Well its a different kind of war it could take a 100+ years to fight.
Habeas Corpus Gone- Need I say more.
Secret Detainment Camps- Guantanamo Bay and other "secret" sites, need I say more.
The Patriot Act- Give the government unprecident ability to spy on and detain Americans. Yes I know some of its provisions are mentioned elsewhere in the list but I felt they needed to be pulled out for emphasis.
Violation of the 7th Amendment- Yes you have the right to sue the government and its officials.
Congress Abdicated Oversight Responsibilities- Bush and his administration were given unrestrained power to fight the so called war on terrorism.
Ashcroft Dictates- Government has reduced compliance with the Freedom of Information Act. Removal of Attorney-Client Privileged. Ordering state and local governments to conceal names of detained people. Compiling secret lists and files of dissenters.
Racial Profiling- Done on Middle Eastern and Asian Men.
Secret Laws and Courts- Need more be said.
More likely what is happening is the true masters of Washington DC and the Country - Corporations - See their profits threatened. As such, you as their hired mouth piece must now defend your owners.

Productive

mood:
pleased
So yesterday I over slept and missed going to the gym but it was productive none the less. I was able to get in a full round of Aikido practice at the house without too much complaining from my ankle. I even did some Ukemi Waza without much difficulty.
I started with some Zempo Kaiten Ukemi and Koho Ukemi from the beginners position rather than standing, I also don't have a mat, and I was able to complete them with only a little complaint from my ankle. That completed I moved on to
Tegatana No Kata
Hanasu No Kata
- I also did the variations off these.
Ni Ju San Hon Kata
- Did the 1st 17 moves. Evidently the organization has added 6 more to is since I was last involved in a dojo.
- Owaza Ju Pon
- I only went through the first five of the ten.
Basically I did my whole Nidan test yesterday again. Surprisingly I still felt fluid and not off balance. I'm going to be working on some of the more advanced Katas including the San Kata as well as the new moves in preparation to go back to class next year.
That out of the way I went to dinner and work. I was also able to get in some C++ programming practice, review some Cisco material for my test next month, work on a Juniper Networks document for training of other employees at work, and also practice a little German. All in all a very productive day.

Weekend Update
Sep. 14th, 2009 | 02:23 am
mood:
tired
Fairly good weekend. I woke up around 1:30pm on Friday and hit the gym then later on in the evening I BBQ on my grill and watched some old SG-1 episodes on tv.
Saturday night was excellent. I went to Numbers and hung out with Xymox_Dream, her friend Robert, and my friend Brooke from work. Saw Troenstar and her friends there as well. Overall it was a good night. Music was awesome other than some CD glitches from a guest DJ. His set wasn't bad overall but the skips irritated a couple of people I noticed. I didn't let it bother me. Xymox_Dream wanted to know if I was doing afters but I really wasn't able to since I had to get up early the next day. After, I came home and proceeded to only be able to sleep about 3 hours. My ankle is still bothering me, I found this to be more so after dancing, so I'm going to go see an orthopedic surgeon and hope that its something a couple of weeks in a cast can fix over surgery.
Sunday I hung out with friends and played a game but I was really tired and grumpy so it was just ok. The game was fun but I dozed on and off through most of it. Came home and took a nap after but I'm still tired. I'm going to stay up until Target opens so I can grab some cat food then I will try and get some sleep and go to the gym before work.
Next time I will update with an update that isn't so rambling since hopefully I will have some sleep and can form coherent whatchamacallits......thoughts.

Wait Times and Healthcare
Jul. 7th, 2009 | 11:29 pm

I hear a lot of crap going around about the wait time for treatment in Canada being long. Last three times I had a specialist visit here it took 1.5 Months and another one was 2 Months, 1 Week. Then they rejected my insurance on one of those. So blow me McConnell.

Life
May. 30th, 2009 | 08:01 pm
mood:
contemplative
Well,
Here's an update sort of.
I have moved into my new townhome out near Highway 6. Its finally, starting to feel like my place. After the move I started working out again regularly and am able to fit into a size 36 again so this is good as well. I am doing a combination aerobics and weight training workout so I have actually gained weight instead of lost it.
My new jeep was having issues that started about a month ago. The ABS, ESP/BAS, and traction lights all came on after I pulled out of work and wouldn't go off. This also killed my cruise control. The garage I took it to reset the system and told me it was a module and I should take it to the dealer. An idea I dreaded but was left little choice after they came back on again. Being the kind of person I am I researched it before hand and narrowed down the cause to a module, rear wheel sensor, or a mechanism in the steering wheel. I was guessing the sensor and after spending 3 hours at the dealer this morning this was confirmed. Fortunately I'm still under warranty since it has less than 30k miles on it and its a 2007. That said I drove away from the dealer with the problem fixed for free. At least I hope its fixed.
Complete my reading my BSCI book. Just going to review and take the test in late June. First steps toward getting my CCNP and hopefully a better paying job. Right now I have the MCSA in Windows 2000, Security+, and Network+. Want to get the CCNP by the end of next year.
I'm still single. I have deleted my okcupid account as its crap and none of people it paired me with are interested in me or return my messages. Same with Plenty of Fish and a couple of other sites. I did meet a couple of people who simply vaporized after a few promising conversations, not unlike the last person I dated, without any explanation. Thinking about doing the foreign bride thing at this point.
Other than that its just me, my cat, and the Internet.
"In case I don't see you ... good afternoon, good evening, and good night."

So tonight convinced me more then ever that I don't really fit in anywhere. I pretty much decided that I really shouldn't do anything other than continue my search for an ex-pat job where no one knows me and I should endeavor to get as far a way from any of the people who know me. At least my cat and I have a good relationship.

For those of you interested Blackwater Worldwide, formerly Blackwater USA, has changed its name to Xe. Contrary to the reasons they give, the only reason you change your name is to hide from the consequences of your actions.
